What is a Study Group Teacher?
Once a member is a solid sdk for two months or more, they are considered for the title of "Kyu Study Group Teacher".
"Teacher" is an honorary title. Once it is conferred, it is never rescinded.
The purpose of the "Teacher" title is to recognize the accomplishment of SG members and to encourage SG sdks to help ddks with game reviews, Teaching games, etc.
What is The Study Room?
It is a good place to chat and play games.
To join, click on Rooms –> Room List –> Social –> The Study Room.
Normally, partners play and review games with each other, attend lectures together, and get to know each other on a first-name basis.
The pairings are changed every month or so.
The KBG is not restricted to the SG. Anybody can join.
If you would like to join the KBG, or, if you would like more information, please contact Ed Curry (DryHeat). His email address is in his info page.
If you and your buddy would like a sensei, xzenith42 would be happy to help you find one. His email address is in his info page.
Anything else? Yes.
The "bcc" trick is used in group mailings to preserve email-address privacy.

Members only: Please put the phrase "Kyu Study Group Member" in your info page.
If appropriate, and if you desire, please use some combination of the following titles instead of the title "Member".
Teacher, Adviser, Founder, Leader
What do these titles mean?
"Teacher" is an honorary title awarded to SG members who have at some time had a well-established sdk rank.
"Founder" is not really a title. It means that the person was one of the original members of the SG.
A "Leader" encourages the members of the SG/TSR/KBG enterprise, determines the direction the enterprise will take, decides who to invite to join the SG, and handles any problems that might arise. Leaders also award the title of SG Teacher, and they ask SG members to serve as an SG Adviser when more advisers are needed.
An "Adviser" is a person who has been asked to advise the leaders. The leaders are always open to advice from any SG member. Discussions with SG Advisers are encouraged. Discussing something with an SG Adviser may result in ideas that the adviser will pass on to the leaders.
What is a TSR Mentor?
A TSR Mentor introduces newbies to the ins-and-outs of The Study Room and helps make the TSR a cool place to hang out.
Moving this information to the TSR web-site is a work-in-progress.
What does it take to meet the "active participation in rated games" membership requirement?
For example, three days a week with rated games for the last four weeks and 60 days with rated games in the last six months would meet this requirement.
The Newbie FAQ has answers to many common questions about KGS. For newbies, the acronym list can be especially useful.
